About Susan

Susan Blair is a poet, writer, arts event organizer and award-winning speaker.  Her latest picture book, The Honking Hattables, is a rhyming narrative poem full of kindness, generosity and joy. Her five Perri the Poetry Fairy Presents: Poetry for Kids – an Activity Book are geared toward a range of reading levels and explore different kinds and formats of poems. They are designed to make education and literacy fun.  

Her books for adults include A Howling (Press53, 2023, a Tom Lombardo Poetry Selection) and What Remains of a Life (Finishing Line Press, 2018). Her newest full-length collection, Haunting You: Ghost Story Poems may be released 2026-2027. Susan’s poems have appeared in Kakalak, Spank the Carp, San Pedro River Review, Spillway 29, From Whispers to Roars and others.  She founded and is the editor of The Shrub-Steppe Poetry Journalan annual anthology of North Central Washington poets, in its seventh years as of 2025. Her monthly column, “Poetry Matters,” appeared in The Good Life magazine, and she hosts the “Third Thursday Poets” open mic for poets and poetry. She was a presenter at Write on the River’s 2025 Writers’ Conference in Wenatchee, Washington.

Susan graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont with a B.A. in German & Russian.  She lives in Wenatchee, WA.
